In Memory of Carol Nauss
Founding Member and Chair
Chester Municipal Heritage Society

Carol devoted her life to preserving and celebrating the heritage of Chester, Nova Scotia. In 1981, she became a founding member of the Chester Municipal Heritage Society and served as its guiding force and long‑time Chair.
Through her tireless volunteer leadership, Carol helped restore and protect some of Chester’s most treasured landmarks, including Lordly House and Maple Cottage.
Carol was much more than a heritage advocate. She was a fundraiser, researcher, genealogist, curator, tour guide, and mentor to generations of volunteers. Her knowledge, attention to detail, and quiet determination ensured that local stories, archives, and buildings were preserved not just as artifacts of the past, but as living parts of the community.
Her legacy lives on in the places she helped save, the society she built, and the deep sense of pride and historical awareness she inspired in Chester. Carol’s contributions will continue to benefit the community for generations to come.
